ReFUND Colorado

Please support our mission with your Colorado state income tax refund! If you get a state income tax refund in 2020, you will have a new opportunity to donate some or all of it to support our ongoing work in the community.

The new program described by the ReFUND CO initiative puts you in charge of where your donation goes. It’s as simple as 1,2,3:

1. Decide how much of your refund to donate.

2. Enter Denver Museum of Nature & Science and our registration number 20023005539 in the Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund line on your state income tax return or tax software – or give this info to your tax preparer when you share your tax documents.

3. Smile knowing you’ve helped a cause that matters to you!

With this new program, you can re-energize our vital work for another year. Learn more about this program at coloradononprofits.org. As always, we’re grateful for your support and hope you’ll consider donating again through this new program to maintain our mission.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Exhibition Sponsors
Each year, the Museum draws large audiences to its world-class temporary exhibitions, which receive widespread publicity throughout the Denver metro area. Sponsorship of these premier opportunities offers companies the highest level of visibility and closest association with the Museum.

Education Sponsors
The Museum serves more than 300,000 schoolchildren each year through free Museum visits, an array of science education programs, scholarships for underserved schools, distance learning, and teacher professional development opportunities. Support for these programs is vital to encouraging children to tap into the power of science and creating a vibrant Colorado community.

Event Sponsors
Annual event sponsorship opportunities are available for companies looking for additional visibility and opportunities to entertain clients and reward employees. The signature fundraising gala, Museum After Dark, sells out each fall, with 750 guests. The Science Lounge series-geared toward young adults-and other events for a variety of audiences are also available for sponsorship.

Ann O’Donnell

Ann O’Donnell Endowment for Outreach and Education

Imagine it’s a Monday. A colorfully wrapped box bursting with imaginative, hands-on activities and specimens from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science collections arrives at Fraser Valley Elementary School. This will be an extraordinary week for second- and third-graders at the school! Guided by their teachers—now experts in earth science thanks to lessons and activities fully curated by the Museum—students will dig deep into Colorado’s past to discover what our state looked like when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. As the students create simulations of Colorado’s lost worlds, they’ll practice using the teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills they’ll need as the innovators, explorers, and community-builders of tomorrow.

The Ann O’Donnell Endowment for Outreach and Education has been created to support these and other hands-on science education experiences for K–12 students, both in their own schools and communities and on field trips to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Now, and for all time, students and teachers will explore and make discoveries about nature and science through engaging and memorable learning experiences that only the Denver Museum of Nature & Science can provide.

Richard and Barbara Stucky

The Stucky Postdoctoral Fellowship Fund

Richard and Barbara Stucky are longtime supporters of the Museum. They became Edwin Carter Legacy Society members in 2016, when they notified the Museum that their trust will establish an endowment at the DMNS Foundation. Early in his career, Richard held a postdoctoral fellowship at another museum. Through their estate plans, Richard and Barbara’s gift will one day enable our museum to routinely host a postdoctoral fellow.

Recently, the Stuckys’ plan was jump-started by another Museum donor, Dolores Schlessman, who made a generous gift in honor of Richard. In consultation with the Stuckys, Mrs. Schlessman’s gift established the Stucky Postdoctoral Fellowship Fund in 2021, many years in advance of when it would have been launched by the Stuckys’ trust.

Your gift to the Stucky Fund will grow it further, advancing the date by which distributions from the fund’s growth will cover a year of pay for the first DMNS Stucky Postdoctoral Fellow.
