Denver Museum of Nature & Science to Participate in Wired's First-Ever National GeekDad Day June 17, 2012
June 6, 2012 - Denver -The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is excited to announce its participation in Wired magazine's National GeekDad Day, a comprehensive initiative to encourage parents and their children to strengthen family ties and ignite children's passions for science, technology, engineering, and math this Father's Day.
Activities for families to celebrate their geekiness will be available throughout the Museum on Sunday, June 17, which is also an SCFD Community Free Day at the Museum. Families are invited to take part in a number of activities including
- Mr. Bones, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Check out paleopuppeteer "Mr. Bones" and his life-size dinosaur puppets.
Secrets of the Dioramas Tour, 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Take a tour that explores the art, science, and lore of the Museum's world-famous wildlife dioramas.
- The Jungle Lady, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
See, touch, and learn about exotic and colorful animals from Colorado's "creature teacher," the Jungle Lady.

The "How To Be A GeekDad" cover package in Wired's June issue outlines 14 projects designed to jump-start a lifelong love of science and technology. Projects include building a hovercraft, cooking glow worms, molding dinosaur fossils, making electric Play-Doh, and many more. For kids of all ages and levels of expertise, these projects are designed to inspire parents to have fun with their kids while building educational values.
