Denver Museum of Nature & Science Announces 2013 Highlights
Offerings include two temporary exhibitions, a new IMAX 3D film, and SCFD Free Days, plus the monthly Science Lounge series for ages 21+ and the summer Sci-Fi Film Series
Denver-October 23, 2012-The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is offering a new lineup of temporary exhibitions, IMAX 3D films, and additional programming in 2013. Included below are some highlights for the cultural organization, which serves more than 1.4 million people annually and has a membership roster of more than 60,000 households.
EXHIBITIONS
Mammoths & Mastodons: Titans of the Ice Age
February 15- May 27, 2013
Return to the Ice Age. In Mammoths & Mastodons: Titans of the Ice Age, you will encounter some of Earth's most awe-inspiring mammals, roam among saber-toothed cats and giant bears, and wonder over some of the oldest human artifacts in existence. Life-size models, fossil tusks and skulls, touchable teeth, spear points, cave paintings, interactive displays, and monumental video installations bring the Ice Age back to life.
You'll also enjoy a point of pride for Coloradans as you relive the story of the Snowmastodon Project, the exceptional Ice Age fossil site unearthed near Snowmass Village in 2010. You'll see artifacts from the site and hear about the science that is emerging from this historic discovery.
MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition
October 11, 2013- January 5, 2014
MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibitionwill show you how to uncover the truth behind some of science's popular myths. Will running in the rain keep you drier than walking? Can an airplane really take off from a conveyer belt moving in the opposite direction? Think you can hang off a ledge like an action hero? In addition to hands-on experiments, you can explore props and gadgets from the show-and participate in a live demonstration. Just like the dynamic TV series, this exhibition mixes scientific method with gleeful curiosity and old-fashioned ingenuity to create a hands-on, interactive experience for guests of all ages.

Transport to the beautiful and otherworldly frozen landscapes of North America, Europe and Asia ten thousand years before modern civilization. Peer through the 3D canvas to an ancient world of ice, the dawn of our species, and the time when man shared the tundra with majestic woolly beasts. Dazzling computer-generated imagery brings this mysterious era to life-from saber-toothed cats and cave bears to dire wolves and woolly mammoths-giants both feared and hunted by prehistoric humans.

SCIENCE LOUNGE-MONTHLY EVENT
Enjoy a fresh lineup of mind-expanding experience at the Museum with cocktails and entertainment every third Thursday of the month for adults age 21+.
SCI-FI FILM SERIES-THIRD ANNUAL SUMMER EVENT
The Museum is partnering again with the Denver Film Society to present the Sci-Fi Film Series. Scheduled for July 2013, the program features Museum scientists and film experts as they screen famous sci-fi films, break down the science behind these alternative possibilities, and separate fact from fiction.
