BLOCKBUSTER EXHIBITION

Now Open - BODY WORLDS
BODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart, an all-new exhibition, reveals - through the lenses of anatomy, cardiology, psychology and culture - how the heart nourishes, regulates and sustains life. The exhibition gives Museum visitors profound insight into the human body, health and disease, and the intricate world of the cardiovascular system. The exhibition awes visitors with more than 200 human specimens, including whole-body plastinates, organs and translucent body slices. Visit Exhibitions for more information.

Now Playing - Hubble IMAX
Experience a gripping story full of hope, crushing disappointment, dazzling ingenuity, bravery and triumph. Hubble recounts the amazing journey of the Hubble Space Telescope, arguably the most important scientific instrument since Galileo's original telescope and the greatest success in space since the Moon landing. SCFD FREE DAY

Sunday April 18 - Celebrate Earth Day at the Museum

The Museum will provide Colorado residents with free access to all permanent exhibitions, plus special free Earth Day programming. Activities focus on global climate and how to save energy and make a difference; they include taking a virtual tour of our rooftop solar panels, learning how the greenhouse effect really works, getting tips on xeriscaping and green thumb gardening, seeing a wind turbine, and more.

Note: Access to IMAX films, planetarium shows, and BODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart is NOT included in the SCFD Free Day. On April 18 the Museum is offering general visitors the following special discount prices for BODY WORLDS: $14.50 for adults, $10 for children/students (age 3-18 or with a student ID) and $13 for seniors (age 65+). Advance reservations are NOT available, so timed-entry tickets will be available for purchase onsite beginning at 9 a.m. April 18 and will be offered on a space available basis.

SCFD Free Days are typically well-attended, so please carpool, use public transportation or allow additional time for parking.

Parent /Child Workshop: Delve into Dinosaurs
Saturday, April 10 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. - $20 per member pair, $25 per nonmember pair
Travel back in time and delve deep into the ancient world of dinosaurs. Assist your budding paleontologist while he or she digs up dinosaur bones and creates an original dinosaur craft. Age 3 and adult

Children's Workshop: Skulls, Fangs & Claws
Saturday, April 10 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. - $60 for members, $70 for nonmembers
Understand the ways that animals hunt and defend themselves using their uniquely designed skulls, fangs, and claws. See how today's carnivores measure up to ancient predators and check out the Museum's dioramas featuring dozens of animals that specialize in mashing and nashing their prey.  Create your own predator diorama to take home.  Grades 2 & 3

The Science Lounge: Suds & Safari
Thursday, April 15 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. - $8 for members, $10 for nonmembers
Enjoy a mind-expanding experience with cocktails and entertainment every third Thursday of the month. Ages 21 and up. This month, grab a pint and your passport for a tour of our world class diorama halls with chief curator, Kirk Johnson, PhD. Hear about the Museum's early expeditions around the globe and the secrets behind the creation of these works of art.

Parent/Child Workshop: Nature Walk
Saturday, April 17 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. - $20 per member pair, $25 per nonmember pair
Bond with nature and each other as you explore the flora and fauna of City Park. Identify flowers, grasses, and animal tracks, plus create a craft from nature's "found" objects. Age 3 and adult

Children's Workshop: Anatomy Explorer
Saturday, April 17 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. - $60 for members, $70 for nonmembers
Examine the inner workings of worms, grasshoppers, crayfish, frogs, and sharks while you learn about the incredible human body. Discover how scientists classify living things and record your own findings in a lab book.  Grades 4 - 6

Artists Only: Sketch Night
Tuesday, April 20 from 6-9:30 p.m. - $25.50 adult, $16 student, $19 senior
BODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart provides a unique sketching opportunity for Denver's artistic community. Experience an artist-only evening of anatomy and art. Bring your sketch pad and suitable media (no easels or liquid media are permitted).

Lecture & Book Signing: Colorado 1970 - 2010 with John Fielder
Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. - $8 for members, $10 for nonmembers
Join John Fielder, nationally renowned nature photographer, publisher, teacher, and preservationist for an exhibition of his work over the past 40 years featuring his most inspiring muse: the beautiful state of Colorado. Listen as Fielder provides commentary on what has been protected and lost, and what the future holds for the Rocky Mountain state.
