Simply Science I


For practicing PreK–1st grade teachers


June 25–27, 2015 (Thursday-Saturday)
8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.



  • If you choose to take this course for noncredit, you will receive a certificate of hours completed.
  • If you choose to take this course for credit, 1.5 continuing education credits is available through the Colorado School of Mines. 
  • During the workshop you will be expected to be an active participant for all three days.
  • Children cannot be accommodated in Teachers Professional Development Programs; no exceptions. Participants who arrive with children will not be admitted to the program.

You are invited to a dynamic three-day workshop designed especially for practicing teachers of young children, Pre-K to 1st grade. Build your science content knowledge while learning how to incorporate and nurture science in your classroom. Enjoy a variety of in-depth experiences that explore an inquiry approach to science. The workshop includes:

  • lively discussions with Museum scientists and staff

  • connections to science concepts through math and children’s fiction and nonfiction literature

  • exposure to Museum resources and how to effectively use them

  • plenty of hands-on, interdisciplinary activities that incorporate art and manipulatives


Registration begins Tuesday, February 17, 2015


All programs require payment at time of registration. All sales are final unless the Museum cancels the event.

    Do I need to attend all three days?

    Yes, to receive credit and/or a certificate of hours, you are required to attend and participate in the activities all three days, from the beginning to the end of each session.

    Do I have to take this course for credit?

    No, you may take it for ECE annual training hours only, for a total of 22 hours.

    May I take the materials and distribute them to my staff?

  • A

    No. The course materials are designed to link Museum resources to classroom activities. Individual teachers must participate in the course themselves to receive the full benefit.

    May I take this course again?

    No, this course repeats content from prior years.
