On April 7th from 6 - 9 PM, the museum will be hosting a free event for new members. It is a wonderful opportunity to get a look at collections and projects that are happening behind-the-scenes. From the Department of Anthropology store-rooms, we will be bringing out several items, all of which were made by Haida artists. Come take a look at argillite and horn carvings, bentwood boxes, and a 100 year old eulachon fish oil container that still smells like it was being used yesterday. You will learn a little about Haida culture, the islands called Haida Gwaii, and perhaps be inspired to find the Northwest Coast cultures exhibit in the North American Indian Cultures exhibit hall.
