Volunteer Engagement Center

Volunteers are the heart of the Museum. From igniting the imagination of guests to working behind the scenes, our volunteer family makes the Museum vibrant and fun! In 2016 alone, more than 1,800 volunteers contributed nearly 238,000 hours – the equivalent of almost 115 full-time staff. Wow!

In 2017, the Museum invested in a new Volunteer Engagement Center. A welcoming area located in the heart of the Museum, the Center is designed for our amazing volunteers and the small but mighty team of staff who support them. Here, volunteers collaborate, share ideas, and gather for breaks, meetings, and meals. The Volunteer Engagement Center is complete and open since December 1, 2017.

The fundraising campaign for the Volunteer Engagement Center was successful! More than 400 donors participated, the vast majority of whom are volunteers and staff members. Together with the incentive fund established by trustees Ed Warner and John Freyer, more than $1,000,000 was raised, defraying a significant fraction of the total renovation cost.

Thank you for your support!

The fundraising campaign concluded on 12/31/17, as did the opportunity to participate in the Volunteer Inspiration Art Wall that launched on 7/31/2017.
