Temporary Exhibit Facilitator

Temporary Exhibit Facilitators are friendly, positive, enthusiastic, and flexible volunteers who recognize the needs of our guests and help ensure they have an enjoyable experience. They provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, helping guests plan their visit, providing information as the guest transitions through the exhibit, answering questions regarding content, and facilitating educational experiences. Facilitators may also assist with special evening events, dependent on their availability.

This is an ongoing position where facilitators will assist with all temporary exhibits. With the Anschutz Gallery and Phipps Gallery, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science hosts simultaneous temporary exhibits. Facilitators will train for all exhibits and will facilitate multiple exhibits when they are running concurrently. In 2017, facilitators will assist in Vikings: Beyond the Legend, Nature’s Amazing Machines, and Ultimate Dinosaurs. To learn more about these exhibits, visit the Museum’s website.

Required Skills
Excellent customer service skills, solid oral communication skills, ability and desire to work with people of all ages, firm understanding of facilitation techniques as outlined in training, ability and desire to work as part of a team, and a flexible and proactive problem solver. Bilingual skills a plus. Applicants do not need to be a content expert, but rather have a passion for learning new content and excitement about sharing new information to help enrich our visitors’ experience.

Training
The training program consists of nine hours of formal training for each temporary exhibit. This training is devoted to learning about facilitation positions specific to each exhibit. Facilitators will be required to complete training for all temporary exhibits. Multiple exhibits begin and end on different dates, so temporary exhibit facilitators will train for new exhibits while facilitating a current exhibit.
