Anthropology Rehousing Collections Assistant

The primary goal of this position is to assist the Anthropology Department with improving the environmental conditions of artifacts in storage at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Volunteers will fabricate custom storage mounts for the artifacts. A training session in the methods and materials used in the project will be held. All supplies, including safety equipment, are provided.

 

Required Skills

  • Experience working with collections
  • Experience or education related to conservation and/or anthropology
  • Solid ability to think logically, methodically, and intuitively
  • Solid familiarity with the Anthropology Department
  • Solid communication skills
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Solid digital photography skills
  • Experience with various computer programs, including Excel
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from supervisor
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to use a sewing machine
  • Ability to use camera
  • Ability to use power drills, knives, and hand tools

 

Training
Mandatory training on the mount making must be attended by all participants.

Schedule
Minimum one shift per week. Shifts available:

 

Tuesday
9 a.m. – noon
1 – 4 p.m.

 

Wednesday
9 a.m. – noon
1 – 4 p.m.

 

Thursday
9 a.m. – noon
1 – 4 p.m.

 

Age Requirements
Must be 18 or older to apply.
