Aspen Skiing Company Supports Snowmastodon Project

Aspen Skiing Company and its owners, the Crown family, are proud to make a significant gift through the Aspen Community Foundation to support the Snowmastodon Project. A large team of scientists from around the world are studying the unparalleled Ice Age site, and the knowledge that will emerge from their research has special significance for Aspen Skiing Company's business and the ski industry. The site offers a unique window into past climate conditions and a broader understanding of how a warming planet affects our environment. The discovery could also boost a sustainable summer economy for Snowmass Village, bringing both business and science awareness to the community. Supporting endeavors such as the Snowmastodon Project is critical to the success of their business.

Aspen Skiing Company is committed to creating a livable, vibrant community for all residents in the Roaring Fork Valley. Their philanthropic donations help sustain efforts to protect the local environment, ensure that local children can enjoy recreation on our mountains, and provide a critical safety net of human and social services. Aspen Skiing Company employees recognize this commitment as well, volunteering thousands of hours to rebuild trails, construct homes, and serve the local community organizations.

Aspen Skiing Company operates the four mountains in the Aspen/Snowmass area-Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk-plus The Little Nell, Limelight Lodge, and Snowmass Club. Each year, Aspen Skiing Company and its employees donate more than $2 million to hundreds of local nonprofit organizations. Find out more at

New Plaza Named for Boettcher Family

The dedication of the Boettcher Plaza is in recognition of the Boettcher Foundation’s decades-long history of supporting the Museum.

Legacy Lasts for Generations

Monty Cleworth remembers his childhood visits to the Museum as if they were yesterday. Exploring the dioramas and even hosting one of his birthday parties in Gates Planetarium developed his interest in the natural world and his commitment to being a lifelong learner. (September 2013)
