Be Inspired by Women in Science!

Join us for the Girls & Science Kick Off Event on Friday March, 1st to meet the mentors and participate in hands-on STEM activities. Come explore the many diverse opportunities a future career in science, technology, engineering, and math can bring. Bring the whole family for a night all about igniting a passion for science—try it on, test it out, and play! Programming will run from 4:00-8:00pm. The Museum will remain open until 9:00pm.  

Girls & Science knows that if girls can see it, they can dream it and BE it! Connecting girls with women mentors in STEM careers to then allow girls to ask questions, get inspired, and explore the many diverse opportunities a future career in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math can bring!

CBS Colorado programming includes a Girls & Science Community Conversation a Meet the Mentor special that will feature our Girls & Science STEM Mentors and participants from Girls Inc. of Metro Denver. The informational panel discussion will focus on each mentor’s career in STEM and the importance of encouraging girls to consider STEM as a career and a field of study. Go to CBS News Colorado to stream the Community Conversations on Thursday, March 14th at 7pm. The Meet the Mentor Special will stream on Thursday, March 21st at 7pm.

Girls thINC Outside the Box

Girls thINC Outside the Box brings the Girls Inc. experience home and recognizes girls’ power to be leaders of their own learning, exploration, and practice. In addition to the STEM-focused box for Girls & Science this March, you can enroll in this program and receive a monthly delivery of self-paced strong, smart, and bold curriculum for a girl (or girls) in your life!

Subscription fees are on a sliding scale, and you can cancel at any time.

Explore a variety of STEAM Stations at the Kick-Off Event! Find out what makes each of our sponsor organizations so great and how they use science every day. Meet women in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) professions to learn what they do, who they are and what inspires them.

Ping Identity

Ping Identity will have 3 stations participants can engage with.

Station 1: Coloring Pingy's World
Step into the colorful realm of Pingy as each participant embarks on building their very own storybook. Let your imagination run wild on the coloring page and bring Pingy's world to life!

Station 2: Designing Pingy’s Adventure with Prompt Props
Unleash your creativity at the Design Station, where notecards filled with Pingy's potential actions await. Choose from a variety of prompts to shape the narrative, and connect the dots to design a story that's uniquely yours.

Station 3: Visualizing Pingy's Adventure with PingOne DaVinci
Watch your story come alive! In PingOne DaVinci, we'll input the adventure storyline created at Station 2. Follow the magical steps, and witness Pingy's journey unfold as the software generates a captivating gif of Pingy's adventure.

Conclude the event with a magical moment by capturing a photo of your paper storybook alongside the animated gif on screen. It's a unique fusion of traditional and digital storytelling that you won't want to miss!

Go on an adventure to the four Museum Girls & Science Mentor Labs! Collect stamps and explore the amazing contributions of these women in the world of science.

CBS Colorado

See yourself on the CBS Colorado Green Screen and complete an activity sheet to see what you learned.

Chevron

Join Chevron as they explain how their sectors of the oil and gas industry are related. Discover how pipelines are just straight lines and learn about the elevation obstacles they must overcome. See how the Oil and Gas Industry involves many different disciplines.

Xcel

Join Xcel to discover snap circuit kits. Participants will have the option of completing a variety of snap circuits that make a sound, make a small wheel turn or turn on lights. Xcel will assist participants with snap circuits and answer questions about energy and how things are powered.

Once you've completed your snap circuit kit, spin the prize wheel! Participants can answer simple questions about energy to get a prize. Xcel will also be passing out stickers, pencils and coloring sheets.

CSU Spur

Join CSU to discover the Veterinary Mock Clinic at CSU Spur, a complete set of items that mimic real veterinary tools used to check up on pets, including brushes, patient sign in sheets, and collars. Learn some of the basic health needs of pets such as teeth brushing and regular check ups with vets, and hear about potential careers in veterinary science.

Participants are invited to act out the responsibilities of a real-life veterinarian by examining and caring for stuffed animals. Participants can use a checklist to identify information, areas they should examine, the diagnosis, and the treatment plan of their patient.

Ibotta

Join Ibotta for an interactive activity utilizing laptops.

Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists Foundation

Join the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists Foundation for a coring exercise with playdoh and straws, mineral identification and a display of interesting minerals. Plus, discover an "Earthquake" and win sharks' teeth and postcard giveaways.

SM Energy

SM Energy will be using the Colorado Geologic Survey's "Shake Table" to simulate earthquakes. Then, see how the soundwaves are captured in a seismic line, and how geologists interpret seismic lines.

MSU Denver

Join MSU Denver for a strawberry DNA extraction and to observe your own cheek cells under microscopes. Also, explore glow in the dark slime and Tower of Hanoi and Soma Cube puzzles.

PNC Bank

Join PNC Bank to learn about Needs vs Wants. Complete a handout with several different images and circle all that are 'needs'. If you get them all correct, you get to spin a prize wheel to get a special swag item. Also, learn about general budgeting.
